Angels

I was looking at the drawings of 5 year olds and asked Annette to tell me about her one. Pointing to her drawing she said, “That’s heaven and that’s the cuckoo clock.”

“Annette there’s no cuckoo clock in heaven.”

“Yes there is.”

“Why is there a cuckoo clock in heaven?”

“So that the Angels know what time God sits down so they can love him!”

I wondered what was behind all that so I told her mother about it and it became clear. Annette knew by the position of the hands on the cuckoo clock when her father would arrive home from work. As soon as she heard his car stop she would be there to meet him. He would come in and sit down in the armchair and Annette would climb up on his knee and hug and love him “to death.” It seems that in Annette’s mind that’s how the angels loved God too!
