Labour Day

I was exploring with a group of 7-8 year old children ways in which we celebrate and what we celebrate. We had just had Waitangi day on 6 February and we talked about Queen’s Birthday holiday, and that there was another public holiday later in the year called Labour Weekend.

“I don’t suppose anyone knows why we have Labour Weekend?”

“Yes we do. Yes we do”.

“Tell me, what is Labour Weekend about?”

“It’s about having babies!”
