I am Lyndall Brown and from 1994 have been involved in the ministry of Spirituality and Personal Transformation with adults. I feel grateful and privileged to be able to journey with others as they come to the discovery of themselves and their God. My entry into this ministry had its beginnings when I had the opportunity to study at the Institute of Spiritual Leadership in Chicago in 1992/93. It was a life changing experience for me and depthed for me the sacredness of all of Life.
My ministry flows out of the Emmaus Spirituality Centre in Thorndon Wellington. There I am part of a Team of four… Ann Maree Thompson rsm, Gerard Whiteford sm, Jim Dooley sm and myself. At the Centre we have for the past 11 years offered a five month sabbatical programme of Spiritual renewal called ‘The Wells of Living Water’. The men and women who join this programme are from a variety of countries and cultures. As part of the Team, I am involved in teaching some to the courses and offering spiritual accompaniment. I enjoy the richness and creativity of the teaching and the invitation that accompaniment offers to enter the sacred place of another’s life. Each year Ann Maree and I offer a retreat in Sydney for those who have attended the Wells programme, usually in a venue by the sea or in the mountains.
Alongside the Wells programme I offer spiritual accompaniment and supervision to many people in the Wellington area who want to find deeper meaning in their lives. It is amazing how many adults are searching for a spirituality that will nourish their quest for God and for life. Over and over again as I accompany these men and women I am reminded of the Josephite call ‘that wherever we are whatever we do we are called to relieve suffering and bring hope’. My life continues to be enriched, and challenged as I listen to the stories of others.
In the Wellington region I am often invited to facilitate workshops on Women’s Spirituality, the Enneagram, the Spirituality of the Second Half of Life as well as Retreats for Chaplains and Lay Leaders. My love of teaching and working with small groups is nourished by working with these groups.

Nelson and the surrounding areas is a place where I revisit not only to reconnect with old friends but to continue the ministry that Patricia Stevenson and I began in 1995. Each year I visit the region and offer workshops and retreats in Spirituality once again each having an ecumenical flavour. My visit there always feels like a homecoming and it stirs in me the desire to offer a presence and a ministry to those in rural areas.
I feel blessed through the variety of ways I am able to minister and to be part of another’s journey home to self, others and God.
