Feast of Mary MacKillop - Hamilton 2008

On Saturday 9th August most of the Josephites living in the Waikato Region gathered at 25 East Street Hamilton to celebrate the feast of Mary MacKillop. We commenced with Eucharist celebrated for us by Mons David Bennett. David's enthusiasm for Mary MacKillop, his regard for Josephites and our involvement throughout the Eucharist helped to make it a very personal experience for us. He chose to pray the Eucharistic Prayer "Jesus the Compassion of God" which highlighted the compassionate heart of Mary MacKillop and at the memorial of the dead we were invited to name sisters who had gone before us. It was a sacred time filled with many memories as we recalled the names of so many Josephites who had been part of our NZ story. At the close of the Liturgy we shared the Blessings of Mary MacKillop from the recent Central Leadership Team newsletter. The Eucharist was followed by a lovely roast meal courtesy of The Roast House with plenty of chatter and laughter. All agreed it was great to come together to celebrate and enjoy each other.
