Responds to Mary MacKillop's request "Never see a need without trying to remedy it"
The Brisbane Grief and Bereavement Centre and all who support it are deeply committed to helping both individuals and groups not only come to terms with but also fully embrace a new way of life after trauma of loss.
Focusing on all types of losses including developmental losses, fantasised losses, losses of deprivation and fortuitous losses, the Centre provides both face to face therapy and support groups.
The Centre's therapist, Anne Howley rsj is an accredited Gestalt Therapist from the Brisbane Gestalt Institute. She has studied in Australia and overseas, and specialises in all areas of loss and grief.
The mission of the Brisbane Grief and Bereavement Ministry is:
- to attempt to meet the needs of the bereaved people and those experiencing loss in the Brisbane community and beyond by providing services at the Centre and by visiting people at home and in hospitals
- to set up support networks
- to educate the community and workplaces in the form of workshops, seminars and talks
- to assist college and university students who have chosen to do assignments on the topic of grief and
- to provide opportunities for personal development
The Brisbane Grief and Bereavement Ministry helps heal the hurts of the community by providing individuals and groups with non-judgmental and empathetic support in times of acute loss.
