Who we are...

Mary
MacKillop Heritage Centre
It would only occur in marvellous Melbourne but in between Oakes Day and Emirates Stakes Day on Friday 9 November (2007), Melbourne's new boutique Museum, which recognizes one of Melbourne's own daughters, was officially opened.

After a week where horse racing has dominated the city's life, Mary MacKillop, one of Melbourne's most celebrated daughters has a museum in her honour, opened last Friday, providing a focus for the celebration to come when she receives much anticipated international recognition.

On Friday afternoon she was the centre of the city's attention as the Lord Mayor, the Archbishop of Melbourne and other dignitaries joining her sisters and supporters to celebrate the completion of this visionary project, which will ensure her work in education, justice, welfare, health and aged care continues.
