Federation Sisters of St Joseph

Australia and New Zealand
The Australian and New Zealand Federation of the Sisters of St Joseph originally belonging to particular dioceses in Australia and New Zealand, share not only the charism of Mary MacKillop and Julian Tenison Woods but also our founding stories. The Josephite Charism is a living dynamic reality and each group has developed specific aspects of the original charism. As we approach the centenary of the death of Mary MacKillop (August 8, 2009) we are committed to reflecting on and celebrating our shared story, charism, spirituality and mission and exploring possibilities for working together in various projects.
We value the opportunities offered to us to grow in appreciation of our shared charism.
International Sisters of St Joseph
In the 19th Century, Fr Julian Tenison Woods visited the Sisters of St Joseph in Le Puy, France, and this influenced the Josephite foundation in Australia.
There are many Congregations of Sisters of St Joseph which were founded from the Sisters of St Joseph of Le Puy in France. Most of these have formed into Federations.
Bonds with Congregations of Sisters of St Joseph of Le Puy origins have been strengthened in recent years. Contacts made at international workshops and conferences by a number of Sisters have given further depth to the relationship.
While all groups of Sisters of St Joseph share a fundamental vision, they are quite independent of each other
