History of JAN Qld Inc
One of the outcomes of the 2001 General Chapter 'A new vision for Sharing the Charism' was the impetus for the MacKwood Life Associates group to propose to the Queensland PLT a structure that could more formally facilitate a partnership with the Sisters of St Joseph into the future.
In October 2003 the PLT established a Steering Committee comprising four MacKwood Life associates and four Sisters of St Joseph. The original
proposal was that the new body would encompass all Queensland Josephite Associates. However, it soon became evident that this proposal was not to be.
The work of the Steering Committee continued until 20th January 2006 when the inaugural Josephite Associate Network Qld meeting was held and the first Committee of Management elected. The Steering Committee formally handed over to the Committee of Management o 5th February 2006.
One of the first tasks of the new committee was to become Incorporated, and this was achieved on 21st April 2006. The official launch of JAN Qld Inc was held at the Sisters of St Joseph Province House, Nundah, on 8th August 2006 - Mary MacKillop's feast day. This was followed by the inaugural Annual General Meeting on 20th August 2006.
With the ongoing support of the Sisters of St Joseph, JAN Qld Inc has
continued to grow and develop. Some of the landmarks achieved to date have been:
. A meeting with Canon Lawyers to discuss the process required for Canonical recognition from the Church by becoming a Private Juridic Person

Back Row: Brian Sullivan, Sr Maria Casey,
Fr Frank Morrisey, Fr John Scarrott
Front Row: Guido DeGlas, Shirley O'Ryan,

. Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Qld Province of the Sisters of St Joseph for the two parties to work in 'Spiritual Cooperation' with each other - Mary MacKillop feast day 2007.

Faye Walsh (JAN Qld Inc President)
& Sr Margaret Robertson (Qld Provincial)
. Completion of a Strategic Plan - a "living" document which needs to be
updated every couple of years
. Launch of a booklet 'In the Spirit of Mary MacKillop' which offers members the opportunity to explore the Charism of Blessed Mary MacKillop and their own spirituality in an interactive way
. Receiving a grant of $5000 from CLRIQ for development of a 'One + One' Companioning program
. 'Josephite Heart' day - an annual day of formation and orientation for
members
Who are we?
The Josephite Associate Network Qld Inc is a vital, autonomous, diverse and flourishing group of people unified by the Josephite charism. Its members seek to continue to grow in relationship with God in all and embrace the ongoing journey of life
JAN members foster openness to the diversity of expression of the Josephite charism, which serves God's mission in the world. JAN members work in Spiritual Cooperation with the Sisters of St Joseph in doing good works
What we do
JAN Qld Inc enables people to work individually or with others in their own area, responding to the needs of their local community. Members are supported by the wider network and share in supporting combined projects and ventures
In practical ways, we participate in prayer with the Sisters of St Joseph in undertaking Novenas through the intercession of Blessed Mary MacKillop. We also organize promotional tours to help spread the Josephite charism throughout Queensland and conduct fundraising events to promote JAN Qld Inc and assist with the development of further activities and programs
