National Sorry Day 13th February 2008

Wyndham School

There was great rejoicing in Wyndham on Apology Day. Several of the
students at St Joseph's School had a special reason to be happy. Their
granny, Marjorie Hunter, a member of the Stolen Generation was an
invited guest at Parliament House for the historic occasion.

All students and staff listened attentively to a simple explanation of why
this apology was of such importance to Indigenous Australians.
Together they prayed and brought the celebration to a conclusion by
heartily singing "We Are One". A special celebratory cake was joyfully
shared at the conclusion of the school day.

The significance of the apology was brought before the parishioners at
Sunday Mass. The intertwined Aboriginal and Australian flags were
featured at the front of the Church. The congregation prayed and
reflected upon the implications of the apology for all Wyndham families.
