Mary MacKillop Place Museum provides people with an opportunity
to learn about the story of both Mary MacKillop and the Congregation
she founded with Julian Tenison Woods in
the context of the early days of Australia. It is a series
of buildings each showing a different period in Mary's life and
contained within a peaceful garden setting. Mary MacKillop's home,
Alma Cottage, is within the Museum grounds and contains part of
our display. Access to the Chapel in which Mary MacKillop's tomb
lies is freely available to the public.
Within
the grounds there is a comfortable shop in which to relax
with friends while you visit and browse among the souvenirs, books and memorabilia related to Mary MacKillop and the Sisters of St Joseph. The Shop also offers a range of fresh coffee, tea, juices, cakes and slices.
Volunteers ensure that all are able to make the
most of their visit to the Museum and are there to support pilgrims
and visitors alike. Appropriate training is provided for those interested
in becoming volunteers.
Museum group guided tours are available if prebooked. Student and Staff Reflection Days can also be arranged through our Education Officer. For more details please click on the links at the top of this page or to book call 02 8912 4878 Monday to Friday during our opening hours.
