Mary MacKillop Place and
in particular the tomb of Mary MacKillop in the Mary
MacKillop Memorial Chapel have become a place of pilgrimage.
As Mary MacKillop died on 8th August, the 8th day of each month
has become a special day for pilgrims to visit Mary MacKillop Place,
participate in the celebration of the Eucharist, visit the Museum,
and pray at the Tomb.
There is a Pastoral Care Team at Mary MacKillop Place, so some
Sisters are always available to listen to pilgrims and visitors,
and provide support when needed.
8th August is a very special day, and thousands of pilgrims visit
Mary MacKillop Place, Masses are celebrated throughout the day in
various locations, and there is a range of happenings. The organisation
of such an event is challenging, and many volunteers help provide
directions and support.

Pilgrimages
The
notion of going on a pilgrimage and being a pilgrim is a very ancient
one that belongs to the spiritual tradition of all great faiths.
Mary MacKillop Place and in particular the tomb of Mary MacKillop
have become a place of pilgrimage.
As Mary MacKillop died on 8th August, the 8th day of
each month has become a special day for pilgrims to visit Mary MacKillop
Place, participate in the celebration of the Eucharist, visit the
Museum, and pray at the Tomb. 8th August is a very special

are celebrated throughout the day in various locations, and there
is a range of happenings. The organisation of such an event is challenging,

or thanksgiving placed in the Petition Boxes at the foot of Marys
grave, or if you wish to have a petition included in the Masses
being offered in the Chapel, or if you wish to receive material

An Australian Pilgrimage is organised each year
In the Footsteps of Blessed Mary MacKillop. This visits many
of the sites associated with Mary MacKillop's life and work in New

Anderledy Lodge accommodation is provided for pilgrims, visitors,
conference attendants, Josephite Associates, and friends of the
Sisters.
A variety of rooms and modern

for conference groups or seminars or meetings.
Mary MacKillop Place has often been referred to as an oasis in
the midst of the busy centre of North Sydney. There are many places
within the complex where one can find a quiet place.

Conference Centre
The
recently refurbished Isabel Menton Theatre has a capacity for 185
in the theatre mode but can also be arranged with tables for workshop
groups. In either format there are audiovisual facilities and technical
support to assist in the presentation of public lectures, artistic
presentations, debates or other activities.
Other rooms are available for group discussion
and/or smaller workshops.

The Sydney Centre for Religious Development, which provides
courses and ongoing professional training in the area of spiritual
development and direction is another ministry located within Mary

Located near Mary MacKillop Place is also the International Office of Seasons for Growth which provides resources to assist adults and young people reflect on the impact of grief on their lives.
