Mary MacKillop Centres

Mary MacKillop Place is a unique centre in Australia, renowned
as a spiritual, educational, cultural and hospitality centre. It
features the Memorial Chapel,
the Museum, educational and accomodation
facilities in Anderledy Lodge
and the Culture and Communication
Centre. It is also the registered office of the two companies
responsible for fundraising to support the ministries of the Sisters. Mary MacKillop Foundation focuses
on projects within Australia and Mary MacKillop International Mission Inc supports the ministries of the Sisters in Peru.
An Australian Pilgrimage is organised each year In the Footsteps of Blessed Mary MacKillop. This visits many of the sites associated with Mary MacKillop's life and work in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. For information contact MMP.Ministries@sosj.org.au
The Mary MacKillop Centre in suburban Kensington is the only one
of its type in Adelaide and commemorates the work of Mary MacKillop
and the Sisters of St Joseph.
The Mary MacKillop Interpretive Centre and the Woods MacKillop
Schoolhouse commemorate the lives of Blessed Mary MacKillop and
Father Julian Tenison Woods with displays, photographs, artifacts
and history.

The Centre was initiated by the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred
Heart at the time of Mary MacKillop's beatification in January 1995.
There was a 'call' amongst the Sisters to have a gathering place
so that others could come and learn about this great Australian
woman. It is hoped that this venue will be a source of inspiration,
provide a sense of belonging and give healing for those whom come
to visit.
The
Centre in New Zealand is part of a larger complex at Mission
Bay which is the Provincial
administration centre and
a site for several ministries.
This building,
which was purchased by Mary MacKillop as a House of Providence
and was the residence of the first
Victorian Provincial, was renamed in 1998. The development into
Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre, East Melbourne was completed in 2007. The memorial of the birthplace
is also in Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, Melbourne.
The Roy Bridge area of Lochaber is of considerable significance
in Mary's history because Glen Roy and Glen Spean were the original
homes of her forbears.
