'St Joseph's Island' Book Launch

June 07, 2012

Launch of 'St Joseph's Island: Julian Tenison Woods and the Tasmanian Sisters of St Joseph'

Following the 125th Anniversary Mass of the arrival of the Sisters of Saint Joseph in Tasmania, all assembled to celebrate in the Westbury Town Hall and be present to celebrate with Jo Brady rsj, for the launch of her  book: 'St Joseph's Island - Julian Tenison Woods and the Tasmanian Sisters of St Joseph.'

The hallmark hospitality of the Tasmanian people and the close relationship of the Sisters of Saint Joseph to the local people were strongly witnessed in the Westbury Town Hall on the cold and wet evening!

Jo's scholarship linked with her commitment to her Sisters in Tasmania has resulted in a volume that is both factual and enjoyable to read. It is a unique history that closes with the story of the fusion of the Congregation in Tasmania with the sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart.

Sister Catherine Shelton, from the Wanganui Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph and President of the Australian and New Zealand Federation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, launched the book. Catherine's address can be downloaded below.

The book may be purchased from the Josephite Mission and History Centre New Town in Tasmania, Mary MacKillop Place North Sydney and the Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre in Melbourne as well as ATF Press - see below for links.
