Share Your Feast Day News

July 18, 2012

Last year all around the world the Feast Day of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop was celebrated for the first time since her canonisation. Creativity prevailed with liturgies, art works, songs and social gatherings, to name a few. A collection of resources is continuing to build through sharing on the internet.

Along with e-news, the Mary MacKillop Website (www.marymackillop.org.au) and the Sisters of St Joseph Website (www.sosj.org.au) continues to bring news of the legacy of Mary MacKillop. There are thousands of hits, not only on the website pages, but also the facebook pages. We need your help in continuing this important medium for the cyber community.

On the Sisters of St Joseph site, articles are sought, not only about the Sister’s ministries and happenings, but the wider network of associates, schools, ministries etc that have links and news with the Sisters.

On the Mary MacKillop site, articles focus on events that continue the legacy or commemoration of Mary’s life. Resources such as liturgies, songs, artworks, teaching resources etc are also shared on other pages of the site. Contributions from the community to these pages are greatly appreciated. It’s a way of ensuring we connect with today’s world and keep up to date.

Facebook is an increasing medium to share short snippets of happenings, historical events, thoughts and ideas. Activity on facebook has greatly increased since the canonisation. It’s here that many have joined in conversations about current issues and events.

Mary MacKillop is noted to ‘never see a need without doing something about it’. August 8th is only a month away and we need your contributions, both before and after the day, to share with many others in the cyber world…….. historians, educators, liturgists, journalists, readers … want to keep up to date and say thank you for contributions!
