Mary MacKillop Family Service

September 11, 2012

MacKillop Family Services is this week sending an urgent call for foster carers in Victoria and New South Wales.

Recognising National Foster Care Week 9-15 September, the organisation says there are limited options for many children and young people because of a lack of foster carers, exacerbating the children’s experiences of past trauma and abuse.

“Without enough stable homes for these vulnerable children to stay in, we are having to place them in accommodation which is not ideal for them,” said MacKillop CEO Micaela Cronin.

“What these children need most is a safe and nurturing place to call home so that they can begin to heal and live the kind of childhood they deserve.”
