The Sisters of St Joseph are preparing for their 25th General Chapter which occurs every four years. This Chapter will be the 25th in the lifetime of the Congregation in Whanganui, Aotearoa New Zealand.
The Constitutions of the Federation Sisters expresses the Chapter as:
‘This is an invitation to enter a faith experience,
faith in God, and faith in each other.
As equals we discern, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit,
the future direction of our corporate life and mission.
The Chapter, acting in the name of the Congregation,
embodies the aspirations of the sisters.’
St Mary of the Cross MacKillop in her Letters to the Sisters spoke of a Chapter in Australia on 16/1/1875:
‘As upon this Chapter much of the future of the Institute will depend, you will I am sure all unite in humble and earnest prayer that God’s own Spirit of Wisdom, Goodness and Love may guide and reign over it.’
We remember and pray for the Sisters as they begin their General Chapter.
