It is Legal to Seek Asylum

Asylum seekers represent only 3% of all immigration to Australia. They are a minority group with a high visibility, and because of media attention they have become a political target. As scare terms like “queue jmpers” are thrown around in parliament and the media, hundreds of human lives are at immediate risk.
The Social Justice Committee of the Conference of Leaders of Religious Institutes New South Wales (CLRI NSW) offers a two page document "Just in Time" that discounts some of the myths related to the issue and claims that seeking asylum is legal.
