Both the Central and Federation Josephite belong to Sisters of St Joseph at the United Nations – Congregations of St Joseph (CSSJ).
Since 1979 the Congregations of St Joseph (official UN-NGO title) have had a presence at the United Nations (UN) as an NGO (Non - Governmental Organisation). The NGO is made up of all the Sisters of St Joseph and Associates throughout the world.
In 1999 the Congregations of St Joseph gained accreditation with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at the United Nations. Our ECOSOC accreditation allows us access to other UN programs and agencies and provides an opportunity for information sharing and most importantly, an opportunity to have our collective voices and the voices of the people we represent heard at an international level.
The current priorities for CSSJ are Global citizenship, poverty, empowering women and children, ecology/environment/immigrants and the trafficking of peoples.
