The Victoria-Tasmania Region of the Congregation came into existence on March 19 2013 and is made up of the Local Communities of Sisters living in these two Australian States.
The Sisters in Tasmania merged with the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart on March 19, 2012 and joined the then Victorian Province.
The diversity of the Josephite presence is reflected in the variety of places the Sisters live in – places stretching from the Victorian-New South Wales border, close to the high country of the Victorian Alps, Numurkah the foundation place, in Gippsland, Melbourne city itself and everywhere in between – in country towns and cities.
In Tasmania there are Sisters in North and North West of the state, in the south at Cygnet and Bruny Island and in Hobart itself.
The Sisters are involved in a variety of ministries including education, parish ministry, parish and school pastoral work, aged care, nursing, counselling, hospital chaplaincy, refugee support and of course being a presence in whatever place a Sister is missioned to.
