From the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart
Mary MacKillop Place opened its doors to more than a hundred young people across Australia and New Zealand to attend this year’s Risk and Dare (RAD) Conference. We gathered as Josephites – and as social justice allies – to energetically accept our call to action and confront the challenging experience of what it means to live the Gospel in the 21st century. Joelle Sassine shares a recount of RAD here.
A Josephite Companions Webinar held on 2 September, saw Annie MacKillop, Saint Mary MacKillop’s sister and constant companion, recognised as the ‘first’ or ‘original’ Josephite Companion. Robyn Phelan shares more about Annie and insights from the day here
The International Day of Older Persons on 1 October, is an opportunity to highlight older persons and reflect on eldering. Sr Maryellen Thomas from the Josephite Eldering Team, shares a reflection on eldering here.
On Sunday 24 September, we celebrated the Vatican’s 109th World Day of Migrants and Refugees. In his message, Pope Francis has expressed that freedom must determine the decision to leave one’s native land. JAG volunteer, Emilia Nicholas reflects here.
With Father Julian Tenison Woods’ anniversary of death on 7 October, Sr Carmel Jones was drawn to reflect on a visit she made to his grave at Waverley Cemetery earlier this year. We invite you to view Sr Carmel's reflection here.
