There are many, many groups and organisations that have developed in the same spirit of that of Mary MacKillop and the Josephites. These groups are independent of the Congregation of the Sisters of St Joseph
AJASS – Association of Josephite Affiliated Secondary Schools
AJASS is an independent association of Josephite affiliated secondary schools and aims to embrace, extend, strengthen and perpetuate the charism of Blessed Mary MacKillop in schools which identify with her vision and spirit.
By sharing ideas, events, and gatherings, schools that are part of the Association endeavour to develop and grow in the Josephite spirit.
AJASS holds regular gatherings and meetings and maintains contact through interschool activities and support.
Companions of St Joseph
A group of lay people in South Australia have become an Association of Lay Faithful known as Companions of St Joseph. This group is formally recognised by the church and live as companions, according to the spirit of St Joseph and inspired by the example of Mary MacKillop and Julian Tenison Woods.
These men and women aim to work alongside each other to discern the needs of our time and respond to them in simple, ordinary ways. With generosity they wish to celebrate and witness to Gods’ love in the daily events of their lives. They express trust in God’s providence by caring for our earth, putting aside ambition and material greed and they form habits of prayer that nurture relationship with God in love of neighbour as their primary focus.
The members of this Association men and women commit themselves for a period of 12 months to live into this charism of St Joseph and they promise to act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with their God, through a simple lifestyle, in loving service of others, and in openness to the will of God their my lives.
