New sculptures in Fr JulianTenison Woods Park, Penola, SA

On Sunday, May 23rd, a crowd of over 300 people travelled to Penola to watch the unveiling of chainsaw-carved wood sculptures created as a memorial to Father Julian Tenison Woods by artist Kevin Gilders.

The day’s proceedings included musical presentations from the students of Mary MacKillop Memorial School, Penola, and Tenison College, Mt Gambier. Among the speakers were Fr Frank Brennan SJ and Sr Mary Cresp RSJ. The Archbishop of Adelaide, Philip Wilson, blessed each carving as it was unveiled. The Sisters of Saint Joseph unveiled the sculptures of Mary MacKillop and children.

Among the visitors were Sisters of Saint Joseph from South Australia, Victoria, Lochinvar, Perthville and Goulburn.
