Wintry southern journey for the Roadshow

Launched in early 2011, the Travelling Sisters’ Roadshow is a novel educational initiative that raises awareness about the mission of the Mary MacKillop Foundation.

Since March last year, Sr Julianne Murphy rsj, travelling with a number of Sister-companions, has driven across Australia in a brightly decorated mini-bus. They have visited towns and centres, at the invitation of schools, parishes and other organisations who are keen to discover more about the Foundation’s work of funding small life-changing projects, and how they might support this in practical ways. As part of every interactive presentation, in every place they visit, the Sisters talk with their audience about the legacy of St Mary MacKillop, and encourage people to live in her spirit, by  ‘Never seeing a need without trying to do something about it.’

This year, Julianne is back on the road. She’s a woman on a mission – in the wintry southern states – with just one companion this time: Mary MacKillop, her delightful puppet, which is much loved by young and old alike! After several weeks in Victoria, during which they clocked up 3993 kms, Julianne and Mary are about to cross Bass Strait and venture forth into Tasmania.  It’s the first time for Julianne.  Mary’s been there before – a long time ago!

Since she set out on the Roadshow exactly 15 months ago, Julianne, a great communicator, has been recording her experiences through her Facebook blog, posting many delightful pictures and messages at the end of many a busy day.
