Celebrating the Year of St Joseph (8 December 2020 – 8 December 2021)
Pope Francis in his Apostolic Letter, Patris Corde, called the Church to set aside 2021 as a year to focus our attention on St Joseph as patron of the Universal Church.
Saint Mary MacKillop and Fr Julian Tenison Woods, the co-founders of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart, chose St Joseph to be patron of the Congregation and so we rejoiced in this opportunity to pray with and for the people of God with St Joseph.
During this year, the Congregation marked each of its primary feasts with special prayers and celebrations:
- 19 March the feast of St Joseph
- 1 May the feast of St Joseph the Worker;
- 8 August the feast of St Mary MacKillop and;
- 7 October the anniversary of the death of Fr Julian Tenison Woods.

Julian’s Day 2021: Let’s learn to live in harmony with nature!
To celebrate the 7 October anniversary of the death of Fr Julian Tenison Woods, co-founder of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, this year we have done something special.
Fr Julian was a man of many talents: an environmentalist, scientist, priest, explorer, campaigner for social justice and the rights of Indigenous people, among many others.
To introduce Fr Julian to the next generation, we have produced the attached resources for children and adults.
