A Home for Every Neighbour is a 150-day advocacy campaign responding to Australia’s housing and homelessness crisis. The campaign will be launched with an opening ceremony on the vigil of the feast of St Joseph (18 March 2026) and will conclude 150 days later with a closing ceremony on Social Justice Sunday (30 August 2026).
This wonderful sculpture of the homeless Jesus by Timothy Schmalz has been a central focus for the Josephite Justice Network and the Justice and Peace Office of the Archdiocese of Sydney as we begin our 150-day campaign to respond to Australia’s housing and homelessness crisis.
Grounded in dignity, solidarity, and the common good, this campaign will combine faith-based action with public advocacy to mobilise communities, influence decision-makers, and secure lasting commitments for housing justice.
We will launch the campaign on the vigil of the feast of Joseph (who was homeless himself) on Wednesday 18 March from 2:00pm until 3:00pm. We would love it if you could join us (either in the Mary MacKillop Memorial Chapel in North Sydney, or in your own communities) for the launch of the campaign. For in-person attendance, please register using the link shared below.
During the 150 days, we will focus particularly on families and women over 55, while not losing sight of all those who are the victims of current policies and life situations
This invitation, shared below, is open to all, and we would love you to be involved – in your prayer, your conversation and your ongoing action. There is also a poster you can view below.
Additionally, the below information resource provides details about the 150-day campaign goals and stages.
We are hoping that this initiative will help us to continue to respond to the call to be a voice for a suffering world.
