Eldering is a conscious, active evolutionary process involving deep personal and social transformation as we move through and beyond mid-life. It touches particularly into spiritual dimensions of all aspects and stages of ageing of which loss is an integral part.
Elders are those who have lived the joys and sorrows of life and who have accumulated a wealth of knowledge and insights. Eldering involves finding meaning and purpose in the journey of life.
Conscious Eldering involves emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of ageing. It is an opportunity for growth, wisdom and personal transformation through self-reflection, relational connectedness and generativity.
Josephite Eldering enables each Sister to be an agent of her own future. We believe that Sisters need to be encouraged to be prepared for self-agency while ensuring that personal choices are respectful of others.
The 27th General Chapter called all of us and particularly the Josephite Eldering Team to…
… attend to our personal and communal loss, pain and hurt and believe that even in our vulnerability we have enough strength and resilience.
It also encourages us in…
… finding new ways for the future: acknowledging the gifts, wisdom and contribution of our Sisters.
