The Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart are fortunate to take inspiration from Mary MacKillop, who was a pioneer woman who fought and advocated for the protection of children.

Mary MacKillop’s strength and bravery to speak out against the injustices inflicted on children, during a time in our history when children were considered to have no rights, inspires us to continue to be a Congregation who stand beside those who are most vulnerable.

As a Congregation of Sisters, inspired by St Mary MacKillop and Fr Julian Tenison Woods, have historically and currently worked to serve and minister to those, when we have seen a need. Very often this involved caring for children, whether that be through our schools and orphanages in the past, or more recently through our outreach programs within the wider community. We will continue to serve with integrity and respect the rights of children.

We invite you to listen to Sr Monica’s introduction to the Sisters of Saint Joseph Child Safeguarding Commitment Statement below:

Additionally, we invite you to read our Adult and Child Safeguarding Commitment Statement. We ask you to join us in having a zero tolerance for adult and child abuse and mistreatment.

Our sisters, staff, volunteers, Josephite Companions and all who work and minister alongside and within our Congregation, are committed to our Adult and Child Safeguarding Commitment Statement.
